They are issued with the security and reliability of HSBC’s banking infrastructure, following prevailing market regulations – and in participating markets, are covered by the applicable deposit insurance scheme. Traditional wire transfers, by contrast, are instructions sent through established payment networks such as SWIFT and usually settle between one to a few business days, impacted by cut-off times, relying on batch processing and intermediary banks.
